Alice In Wonderland

Hello Friends!  As you might notice, I'm still working on Alice In Wonderland projects!  I'll tell you a secret:  Until last month, I never read or watched any version of Alice in Wonderland.  No kidding!  Since that's the Alpha Stamps April Kit theme, I decided to jump down the rabbit hole and finally explore for myself.

I survived.  It was bewildering at times and downright weird at others, but I made it through 3 1/2 versions and only switched off two others (including the one with Scott Baio... yikes).

As a result, I have a few projects to share with you today.  I used a lot of Alpha Stamps collage sheets and I'll include a separate list at the end for each project, just to keep it straight.

I've done the fussy-cut on many character pieces, then outlined with brown brush marker to give dimension.

The collage sheet card stock is sturdy, but most of the time I reinforce my bits with left-over board.

I love how Alice is peeking in the background.

I built up a layer of foam adhesive to adhere the white rabbit to the back of the tin.

To make scenic tin backgrounds a little easier I have a clear acetate shape to fit the inside.  I keep it in my tin box for just this type of situation -- I wanted to include Alice and the hill for my background.  You can sort of see it in this photo.

The next project is a wee (and I mean WEE) faux book box with my favorite characters: Cheshire Cat and Caterpillar.

There are great Alpha Stamps supply lists for my tins HERE and the wee book box supply list is HERE!

There's A Cure

Hello crafty friends!  I'm on the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts blog today sharing a tongue-in-cheek altered tin.

As a frame for the tin, I used the Altoids Fairy Tale Inserts.  This is a set of three, each with a two-part decorative label holder.  Here are the other two in the set:

For a textured surface, I tapped an embossing ink pad on the frame then sprinted embossing powder all over it (over a separate piece of paper so I could pour the excess back into the jar).

The heat gun worked it's magic and the embossing powder melted into a wonderful black and white textured surface.

I dabbed black paint onto the label frame surface, then used a brown brush pen to even out the color on the label's edges.

Attach the insert with a line of glue around the tin.

I used both parts of the label, and helped the glue set up with clothes pins.  Since the embossed surface is textured, I glued the label to the tin using strong E-6000.

I hope I haven't shocked you too much... I do like to raise eyebrows every once in a while!

Alice Trading Coasters

Hello crafty friends!  Today I'm over on the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts blog to share a couple of Alice in Wonderland Trading Coasters. These are totally new to me and I had fun collaging them.  (Collaging? Is that a verb? Eh, no, but...)

I have a lot of Alice-themed pieces already fussy-cut from Alpha Stamps collage sheets, so I decided to made these quick coasters with a few.

The coasters come as a set of 2.  I simply outlined them on the background papers and cut out by hand.  I used Mod Podge to adhere to the coaster and sanded the edges once the glue was dry.

If you look closely you'll see the layers on each coaster.

Thanks for your visit today!
