Hiya crafty folks! I've been busy on a new G45 project. Want to see it?
I've used papers from the Communique collection and a few bits and bobs. I absolutely love this George Bernard Shaw quote, "The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place." Isn't that the truth?!
I've used bits of the paper to create communication-themed vignettes in the boxes. Sending a telegram, typing a letter, listening to the Edison phonograph, writing a note, watching the movies and taking photographs, speaking on the telephone. In each of these methods there is a sender and a receiver and the hope that the message sent is the message received. *wink*
The inside of the inkwell is painted with a Qtip.
I love this box and the optical-illusion created by the diamond patterned paper.
Thanks for visiting today! I'll have more stuff up as the glue dries.
Cheers,
Susan
What a fabulous job you have done. Everything flows so nicely and the papers are chosen so perfectly!.
ReplyDeleteWell done!
Wow! This is SO cool! I absolutely love your design style. Where did you find the box or case itself? How did you learn to do all this?
ReplyDeleteThanks Playwriter! The box is a Tim Holtz Configurations Box. The little inside boxes are removable so you can arrange as you wish. If you look carefully you can see that there aren't boxes in the phone and camera cubbies. I made a bottom to hold the phone, but otherwise needed the extra depth so they wouldn't hang out too much.
ReplyDeleteThis was my first Configurations box, and I jumped in with both feet. I applied the detail work I do to cards and tins and the like to the boxes, and it turned out OK. :) I'm a very patient person when it comes to details, so this is right up my alley.
Plus, I studied the papers in the collection to see what story I could tell. In this case, I used the GB Shaw quote as my focus and wanted to illustrate all the ways we communicate(d) and all the ways it could go wrong.
Let me know if you ever want to bounce ideas around. I'm always available!
Cheers,
Susan
Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteJust fabulous! Love it!

What a gorgeous and stylishly retro box! Absolutely love the close-ups of the 'thyne' typewriter and the inkpot - but then I'm a writer, so I would! Great work :0) Have a fab week and hope you pop by my Pen Pot - best wishes, Deb
