Hello dear friends! Happy Christmas and New Year to you all! I'm "snowed in" at the in-laws in North Carolina and hoping desperately that someone will shovel the foot of snow off my driveway before I get home to Maryland later.
(Ok, so I arranged for that to be done, but it was much more dramatic to add the "desperate" part....) *ahem*
Throughout the course of this year we all have made new projects day after day, week after week. Every time I see a new one I'm thrilled by everyone's talents and "ooh-n-ahh". Then the next day or week there's another one, and then another one. It's easy to forget all the awesomeness that has happened in our crafty community.
This week at The Beary Scrap Design Team and Challenge blog we are celebrating our DT favorites. Each of us had the difficult task of picking one favorite made by our team mates, and one of our own. Oh my, what a fabulous walk down memory lane!
I've posted my favorites HERE. Please take a few minutes to walk with me. From the bottom of my heart I thank you *so* much for a delightful year. I have met so many warm and wonderful people and am amazed at what you all can do with scissors, paper and glue. I look forward to so much from our crafty community in 2011.

TBS DT: Tilda's Swirls of Gems
Well hello, there! It's Monday and the last Monday before Christmas. Er, not significant in general, but it just means I've been running around like a crazy person trying to find the "perfect gift" for my husband. We replaced a couple of kitchen appliances last month and that was going to be our Christmas. Of course, neither of us can go without presents under the tree. :) So, I'm scouring the antique stores for the perfect gift. No luck yet! *sigh*
So this week the Beary Scrap design team girls are showing examples of our current challenge theme - use pearls or gems. Here's my sample:
The paper is Echo Park's "Wintertime" line. EP is doing cool things with paper - they've reduced some of their designs to fit 4 different ones on a 12 x 12 sheet. The background paper here is actually a mini version of the "Flurry" design. The full size "Flurry" is used on the envelope box (see below). Check out the Wintertime line at TBS to see what I'm on about. This mini "Flurry" can be found on the back side of 12x12 "Damask". The middle panel is full-size "Snow", and the top layer - right behind Tilda - is on of the journaling cards enhanced with Stickles. All of the blue layers are "Blizzard Blue".
Darling Tilda is made up of a couple of layers, with loads of Stickles to accent. Her lantern is includes Glossy Accents in the "glass" panels, and her mittens and socks are covered in fuzzy white flock.
I edged the plain white flower with Distress Ink in Weathered Wood and Star Dust Stickles. All the flowers were spritzed with Pearl Glimmer Mist and dotted with the same Stickles.
Here's a view of the inside panel - I enhanced the swirl and snowflake design in the paper with Stickles... I can't stop with the sparkle!
And here's the whole kit and kaboodle. I used another journaling card for the name plate on the front, with a little Stickles on these snowflakes also.

TBS DT: Woodland Tilda
Hello friends! It's such a busy season - I hope you found a few moments of sanity! Husband and I went on a Christmas House Tour and had a great time! I'm late writing this post so I'll get to the "good stuff". *wink*

TBS DT: Sketch Sample and Tutorial Link

Hello dear friends! I hope you had a great weekend. Husband and I had a crazy busy one and as I write this Sunday night I am exhausted. (But in a good way!) As you read this Monday, it is a new day with new challenges and new crafty projects to conquer!
Today I am sharing my layering technique over at the Beary Scrap Design Team & Challenge blog. It is now just about the only way I can make a stamped image "work" for me. When I look at new stamps or digital images I automatically start layering them in my mind. :) It's a lot of work and requires tons of patience, but I love the way it turns out on my cards. Wanna know how I do it? Go here!
Ok, so here is my card based on our current Beary Sweet Sketch Challenge. The design team will take it a little further this week and add die cuts to our cards. I've used snowflake chipboard as my die cuts. You don't have to have a die cut in your challenge entry, just be sure to follow our simple rules and enter your project by the end of the day on December 14th. You could win $20 gift voucher from The Beary Scrap!
Don't you just love these Bo Bunny "Midnight Frost" papers? Oh my goodness, I am in love! I've added loads of texture with embossing folders and used embellishments from the Midnight Frost collection. You will find more info on other stuff used in the card recipe below.

WOYWW #77
Once again, it's What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday! I do like to play along but don't always get to comment on everyone's posts. I'm trying, though! :)
So this is what I'm looking at this morning. Actually, I had to shovel everything to the left to type today, but this is how it will return in a minute. The little "staged" section smack in the middle (on the cutting mat) is me getting ready to do a tutorial on my style of image layering. The stamped images on the keyboard are what I thought I'd be working on this morning, but had to shove aside for the tut prep.
I'm really tickled to share these little gems. They unpainted clay was given to me by a new, extremely crafty friend who has yet to blog [*waving at Michelle while also poking her about blogging*]. She found these ultra cool molds and slapped some polymer clay into them. They were baked to a delicious hardness (that really looks like chocolate...) and I painted with Lumiere acrylic paints. I'll use them as flower centers or some such bauble. Neat - thanks again, Michelle!
I have a collection of vintage buttons and now am in search of molding compound to make my own baubles. :) There's porcelain clay out there, just calling to me.
The other thing I want to point out is my computer screen. It's Tim Holtz's first tag for the 12 Tags of Christmas 2010 extravaganza. I stalked Twitter as photos of his work in progress were uploaded last night. I was well asleep when it went live, but it was exciting anyway. Just looking at his tutorial gives me great ideas for products I already have on hand. Love!
